Thank you for expressing an interest in St. James Preparatory School, where academic excellence is an everyday standard. Each year a new group of scholars joins our student body to prepare for leadership in the 21st Century and we hope you will unite with us on our enriching journey.
St. James Preparatory School is a private, Christian college preparatory school that aims to provide a quality education to students in grades six through twelve. The school is located in the “higher education corridor” in the great city of Newark, N.J. In its ninth year of existence, St. James Preparatory School maintains a low student-faculty ratio and small class sizes which we believe foster a healthy learning environment.
Our curriculum includes all courses that are required by the State of New Jersey for a high school diploma and meets the N.J. Core curriculum standards. In addition, we offer Foreign Language, Art, Dance, Music, Public Speaking and SAT preparation courses. The extra-curricular clubs and activities such as our study abroad program, have served to further enrich each student’s academic development.
St. James Preparatory School seeks students who are committed to scholastic achievement, spiritual development, and community outreach. Students who wish to be considered for admission must complete a St. James Preparatory School application, submit a $65.00 application fee, and attach the following documents:
- An official transcript from the student’s current school that includes his/her grades from the past two years and the current year
- Standardized test scores from the past two years
- Math Teacher Recommendation
- English Teacher Recommendation
- Guidance Counselor Recommendation
- Birth Certificate
- Immunization Records
It is essential that the application is completed in its entirety so we can get a holistic view of each applicant.
If you have any questions regarding the application, please call Ms. Genique Flournoy at (973) 643-4749.
