St. James Preparatory School

Application Process

1.     Student Application

To begin the admissions process, applicants must submit the student application along with the $65.00 application fee.  Although St. James Preparatory School has a rolling admission, we encourage applicants to submit the application by January 15, 2008.

2.     Teacher Recommendations

Teacher recommendations are an integral part of the student application.  Recommendations must be received from the applicant’s current English teacher and from the current Mathematics teacher.  Teachers may mail the recommendations directly to St. James Preparatory School or return the recommendation to the applicant in a signed, sealed envelop.  Each recommendation received by the St. James Preparatory School’s Office of Admissions will remain confidential.

3.     Guidance Counselor Recommendations and School Records

Each applicant and his/her parent/guardian must complete the top portion of the guidance counselor recommendation form included in the application.  The applicant should submit the form to their current guidance counselor.   The guidance counselor should complete the recommendation form, attach all specified documents, and send it to St. James Preparatory School.  The documents should include the student’s transcripts for the previous two years, the most recent report card for the current school year, standardized test results, and a copy of the applicant’s immunization record.

4.     Admission Examination

All applicants must take the St. James Preparatory admission examination as a part of the admission process.   Results from the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), the CO-OP Examination, the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT), nor any other examination may not be substituted for the admission examination.  Applicants will be informed of the examination dates once their application is submitted.

5.     Interview and Visit

Once the applicant has submitted all application materials and been administered the St. James Preparatory School admission examination, he/she may be called in for an interview/visit prior to receiving a final admission decision.  The applicant will be partnered with a current student for an entire day.  Student visitors must wear Khaki pants and a white collared shirt or their current school uniforms (if applicable).
